Our Story

Over six generations, our family tree has buried its roots in clay, allowing us to transform it from our hearts, seeking excellence in each and every one of our pieces.

Cerámica Gónfer is the name of our family company, run by Jesús González Fernández, who began working as a potter at age 12 alongside his master and uncle Miguel. Later, he founded Cerámica González Villa with his father and brother, Lorenzo González Villa and José González Fernández. In 1998, the company was renamed to Cerámica Gónfer. Jesús has run the company ever since Lorenzo and José passed away, and we now honour their memory by attempting to retain their prestige as one of the most important ceramics manufacturers in Puente del Arzobispo, but also in the whole of Spain.

Our Workshop

Our manufacturing workshop is located in the town of Puente del Arzobispo (Toledo), which, along with its sister and neighbour town Talavera de la Reina, comprises one of Spain’s most important traditional pottery areas. As a result, our ceramics were declared Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. We take pride in being the only ceramics workshop that still carries out the entire manufacturing process, from digging out soil from our gully to make our own clay paste, to turning, baking, glazing and painting our pieces. A process that is mostly done by hand in the traditional manner.

At Cerámica Gónfer, we believe in innovating without breaking with tradition, innovation based on long-standing culture, taking over tradition and transforming it to create new products and processes, adapting to change while preserving the essence and artisanship of this fine craft passed down to us by our ancestors.

Our Pieces

Our pieces stand out for their superior quality and unique glazing. We pay strong attention to detail and use only the best materials to ensure excellence in each of our pieces.
